A school bus on its way from Fitzroy Harbour to St. Isidore School in Kanata caught fire and engulfed in flames. A boy and the driver were able to escape before it was too late.

Smoke was detected in the back of the bus while it was going through"downtown" Fitzroy. It was time to get out when the bus turned on Galetta Rd.

Fire Department quickly extinguished the blaze.

The bus was a wreck. Fortunately unlike gasoline the diesel fuel is less explosive when burning in the open.

Police interviewed the survivor and are investigating the cause of fire.
