I mentioned in my first blog that I intended to watch the Presidential inauguration and I did.

From a dog’s point of view it was a little boring.  I thought there would be lots of noise and exciting things to watch, but I just saw a lot of people in overcoats staring down at the new president.  And then it started to rain and they all put on their plastic rain coats.  What a bunch of sissies. I love to go outside and even if it is raining I can still smell lots of exciting things to discover.  They just stood there and not much happened.  Not sure what all the fuss is about but lots of people upset over this election.  I saw on the news that people were asking if Trump was going to get a dog for the Whitehouse and maybe this was why they were upset.  I can tell you that any president worth his salt must have a dog.  This shows to Americans that dogs have a high value and should be treated as great family friends.  But not sure if Donald is a dog person and I guess no one should get a dog to increase popularity, but it would be nice to occasionally see a four-footed friend, preferably a Beagle, in the Whitehouse.  Don’t think Donald has the patience for a Beagle as we are quite special gentle but scent specific.

I am not very political but every time he is shown on TV my mistress, or should I say owner, gets upset and changes the channel.  Maybe I should call her my step-mom as she did not give birth to me but she is like a mother. She must be upset that he does not have a dog or at least one or two cats.  I think cats are a whole lot of trouble and I will have more to say about that as I live with 3 bothersome cats.  And if they have nice carpets in the Whitehouse then I can imagine the damage that will be done to them and I hear the carpets cost very big bucks.   Anyway she changed the channel so could not see if anything exciting happened.  However, the next day there was apparently lots of action and lots of people carrying signs and marching.  This happened all over the world in major cities and small cities.  I heard my step-mom talking about the environment, women’s rights, other rights and lots of other causes, but can’t remember all and I was hoping I would see lots of dogs in the marches and there were some but not nearly enough.  If they were protesting about the environment I can understand as our city is very lax in clearing the snow from the sidewalks and streets and I do not get walked long enough each day.  But not sure why they would be marching in California as they usually have a sunnier climate, but step-mom thought they all were wonderful and she admired each and every one who made the effort on a Saturday to march.

Dogs have to start marching too in order to stop all of those disgusting puppy mills that abuse dogs and other animals for profit.  I do not really know if I am a puppy mill dog as I was born four years ago and I can’t remember where I came from as a tiny puppy.  I had a very good original owner who had to give me up, surrendered me to a shelter and I lived there for six months.  But because I was a young dog, only two years old, the shelter decided to try to find a foster and that is how I ended up with my step-mom and step-dad.  I have not done much damage, only the occasional pee and pooh when they go out, but they now put me in the downstairs bathroom with my bed and water dish and I stay there until they get  home. I do behave there but not sure why.  They do not go out as much anymore because of my presence so I guess they do like me.  I have scratched the bathroom wall a bit but not like the cats.  They are so destructive but step-mom treats them like little babies because they were feral kittens she took in and they can do no wrong until they do wrong, and then she shouts at them. Her bark is worse than her bite as they turn around and do the same things over and over.  Maybe it’s a cat’s world instead of a dog’s world.
