I’m not really sure what a refugee is but maybe I was one when I was surrendered to a shelter and had to live there for some time before I was adopted.  I guess there is not a lot of difference as we are all trying to find a place where we can call home and belong. I heard that Trump is opposed to refugees and wants to initiate what he calls “extreme vetting” before they can step foot into the USA.  From what I hear on the news I thought they all had been vetted, especially those with visas but maybe they did not get the extreme Trump vetting.  Wonder what that is.  I don’t think I went through any extreme vetting before I was adopted but I was very unhappy for quite a long time before a foster mom took me in and I was finally adopted to a great home. Maybe it was a good thing that I was not vetted at a very extreme level as they might have found out that I love to howl when they leave me alone in the house.  I don’t think humans howl but maybe their children do when they are cold and hungry.  I wish Mr. Trump would tell us what extreme vetting really is.  Then everyone can prepare and do well on these vetting tests, if that is what it is all about.

I saw on the news and heard my step-mom talking about the refugees that are walking across a state line to go to Canada and walking through a lot of rough and snowy terrain.  If that is not extreme vetting of refugees then I do not know what is as they could end up with very bad frostbite and maybe even die from exposure.  At this time of year in the Canadian prairies it is very, very cold and many of these refugees are from much warmer countries.  I would say they were a bit crazy, but then desperate humans sometimes have no choice.  I can really understand why they do it as I had no choice when I was surrendered.  One day I had a good home and the next I was in a shelter and heard humans discussing my fate.  I was kept alive because I was a fairly young dog but I never got to decide on my fate.

To end on a dog-positive note I would tell Ivanka Trump to maybe start designing dog beds and dog stuff as there is a huge market for that.  I hear that humans spend billions on this.  We can forgot about cat stuff as they are too spoiled as it is.  Then she can maybe recoup the money she might have lost with Nordstrom’s cancellation of her brand.  Who can afford $10,000 bracelets anyway?  Oh yeah, I hear the 1% can. And maybe she can produce these doggy products domestically so that will fit in with Trump’s ‘Make America Great’ again, at least for dogs. But then he will have to tackle animal cruelty laws or lack thereof.
